Cognitive Bias Index

What are cognitive biases?

A Brief Introduction

Cognitive biases are the ways our brains can sometimes take mental shortcuts or make predictable errors in thinking, leading us to make judgements or decisions that may not be entirely logical or accurate. Think of cognitive biases as "thinking habits" that our brains develop over time. These habits can influence how we perceive information, interpret situations, and make choices.

I made this index because I became interested in cognitive psychology and how it relates to UX, but I could not find a resource online that mentioned the original authors of these studies and their publish dates.

Building the Index

I referenced Buster Benson's Cognitive Bias Codex to outline all the cognitive biases I needed to find. After scouring the internet for more information, I created a spreadsheet with the authors, the study publish dates, and brief descriptions, then converted it to a JSON file. I'm using Javascript to load all the values from that JSON file to make them searchable and filterable.

ChatGPT helped me build the search and filtering functionality using JS.
